World Liberty Financial injects $250,000 in stablecoin bonuses into UFC Freedom 250

UFC Freedom 250, scheduled for Sunday on the White House South Lawn, will feature a new $250,000 performance bonus pool funded entirely in USD1 stablecoins. The move by the Trump-backed World Liberty Financial aims to showcase the token’s utility amid intensifying federal scrutiny of its operations and political ties.

UFC President Dana White confirmed the sponsorship during a press event at the Lincoln Memorial, framing the contribution as a celebration of both the promotion and the nation’s 250th anniversary. While the $250,000 bonus allocation for the Performance of the Night awards provides a high-profile marketing stage for the stablecoin, it remains a modest slice of the event’s $60 million production budget. Crypto.com maintains a larger footprint at the event with a separate $1 million incentive pool paid in CRO tokens.

Beyond the octagon, World Liberty Financial is navigating a complex regulatory landscape. The company has applied for a national trust bank charter with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to bring its stablecoin operations under federal oversight. This pursuit has faced pushback in Congress, where lawmakers have questioned the firm’s political connections and the legitimacy of its ownership structure. Recent friction with the HTX exchange, which delisted USD1 following compliance disputes, further complicates the project's expansion efforts. As the company pushes for institutional status, it continues to face legislative inquiries regarding its foreign investment deals, including significant capital inflows from entities linked to the UAE.
